So Excited!!!!!!!!
At least my school has 2 floors of practice rooms, which always have rooms far from any teacher’s studio. And my teacher is on the floor below, so she can’t hear. But I get embarrassed easily when I sing and mess up, which is a huuuuge problem for me
I know what you mean. My studio has 2 practice rooms and 2 class rooms(which are used a lot). The two practice rooms are right next to my piano teacher’s office, so she come in when I’m practicing a lot to correct me. That’s why I don’t sing when she’s in the building, because I’m sooo picky with my singing and I don’t want people to listen to me practice.
CAUSE YOU. ARE. THE ONLY EXCEPTIONNN YOU. ARE. THE ONLY EXCEPTION haha :)
Exactly. This is why I never let people listen to me practicing. I worry that I’ll mess up a note. And messing up one note for me means practicing that bit until I get it right (usually 4-5 times), before running the entire piece again.
Yes!! Me too!! Or, since the music program at my school is small, i do my major practicing on the weekends, when the studio is vacant because my teachers listen to me play which is SOOO ANNOYING!!
Agreed. If there is some one else there, you start performing for them because they want to hear pretty music, rather than practicing to improve.
Right!! And then you get self conscious when you make mistakes because people are listening.
Exactly! And it’s worse when I’m singing. At least for piano/horn, the measure is still recognizable… When I’m singing, I’m probably going to sing the same note five different ways to get the resonance right. I promise you don’t want to hear that!
SAME!!That’s part of why I don’t practice my voice rep during the week when I’m at school. My teachers tend to listen when I practice, and the studio is usually vacant on the weekends.
